STRAWBERRY RECEIVED PRIVATE HELP
In May 2023, a baby girl Amenenge, affectionately nicknamed “Strawberry” by her loving mother was born. Strawberry was diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease and Grade 2 Laryngomalacia. Due to her condition, she and her mother spent much of Strawberry’s early life in the hospital, as their home environment was unsuitable for her delicate health needs.
Despite being a devoted single mother, Strawberry’s mother faced financial challenges that made it impossible to improve their home. Although discharged from the hospital in March 2024, they were unable to return home safely. Tragically, an attempt to do so resulted in Strawberry struggling to breathe due to the dust in their house.

The SONDE FOUNDATION took action immediately and collected private donations for a new home. We found generous donors who supported Strawberry with know-how, funds, builders worked for free, equipment like a cement mixer and transport capacities was provided for free. The start of the building process was the 11 of December 2024 and we hope to finish in time for Christmas.

We wish Strawberry and her mother a happy and healthy life in her new home. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all the generous Namibians who came together to make this possible and gave baby Strawberry a safe place to call home.
